Have you opened your demat account but now having problems finding your demat account number? Don’t worry, you are not alone in this as there are several people who struggle to find it. This article will tell you how to find demat account number.
A demat account number is a unique 16-digit number that gives your demat account an identity. Once you open a demat account with a stockbroker, you receive a welcome letter from the depository with which the stockbroker is registered and that letter contains your unique demat account number.
In your welcome letter, your Demat account number will be mentioned and that will depend on which depository your DP is registered with.
- For example, if your DP is registered with CDSL, you will get a 16-digit numerical figure written in front of Beneficiary ID (BO ID). It might look like this – 7854986521450931.
- If your DP is registered with NSDL then, you will get IN followed by a 14-digit numerical figure. It might look like this – IN76025137814490.
What is my demat account number?
In these 16 digits, the first 8 digits are your DP ID which is assigned to every stockbroker registered with the depositories and that will remain the same for every customer who opens the demat account with that DP. The next 8 digits are your unique customer ID.
The combination of your DP ID and your unique customer ID makes for your unique Demat account number.
Your demat account number is something that separates you from the other traders or investors and gives you an identification.
The next question is, where can you find your demat account number, apart from this?
