To open a demat account with Zerodha, you need to visit the official website of Zerodha and click on “Open a demat account”
- Enter your Mobile number and verify it with an OTP. Enter your email or log in with your Google account.
- Enter your PAN card number as well as the Date of Birth.
- Pay the Zerodha account opening charges.
- Click on “ Continue to DigiLocker “ for your document authorization. Complete the KYC by entering the OPT sent to you by UIDAI.
- Fill in some basic details about yourself such as your annual income, trading experience, and occupation, and move on to the next step.
- Link your bank account by entering your bank details.
- Write a code given to you on paper and stand with the paper in hand in front of the camera to complete a webcam verification.
- Choose the one between only Equity or Equity + Commodity account.
- Complete the E-signature by entering the OTP sent to you by the depository.

Is Zerodha Account Opening Free?
Although Zerodha is a discount broker, when it comes to opening a demat account with Zerodha, the broker charges you minimal fees. Here further on the basis of segment, the fees vary and one has to pay the amount of Rs 200 for opening an equity account with Zerodha.
While for the commodity account, one has to pay Rs 100 extra i.e. equal to Rs 300.
Apart from this, there are AMC charges equal to Rs 300 charged on a quarterly basis. These charges are directly deducted from your trading account.
