How to Pledge Shares in Zerodha App?

To pledge the shares in Zerodha, you need to follow certain steps.

  • Login to Zerodha Console.
  • After logging in, click on “ Holdings” and select the share that you want to pledge.
  • Click on the three dots in front of the share’s name, which will open up some options for you.
  • From all those options, select “Pledge for Margin” and enter the number of shares that you want to pledge after checking the haircut and collateral margin.
  • Finally, click on submit to place your pledge request.

Simply placing a pledge request doesn’t mean your shares have been pledged. Once you place the request, Zerodha processes your request and asks for your authorization to confirm your request.

You authorize your pledge request by clicking on the SMS or e-mail link sent to you by the depository. You then enter your PAN Card number and validate your phone number through an OTP sent to your phone.

This whole process of authorizing your pledge request should get completed before 7 PM on the day of placing the pledge request. Once you authorize the request, your shares get pledged.
